NERF is a toy brand with a variety of foam-based weaponry. The NERF brand began in 1970 with a polyurethane foam ball. Reyn Guyer, a Minnesota-based games inventor, approached Parker Brothers with a volleyball game that was safe for indoor play. In 1970, the Nerf ball was introduced as the "world's first official indoor ball", the name "Nerf" being a slang term for the foam padding used in off-road racing. The most significant items are the dart guns, also known as "blasters" that shoot ammunition made from Nerf foam. To stand out from it’s many competitors in the 1970s, Nerf products featured bright neon colours and soft textures. In 2013, "Nerf Rebelle" was released, a line aimed at girls. The first product, the Heartbreaker Bow. Nerf’s catchy advertising slogan is… "It's Nerf or Nothin'!"
